When I was reading Peshitto
"Acts 20:28 - Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit hath established you bishops; that ye feed the church of God, which he hath acquired by his blood. ",
I paid attention to "church of God , which he hath acquired by his blood." and became confused since I know that not God but Jesus Christ shed his blood.
I did not accept it and was said.
But immediately at dukhrana.com I decided what Eastern text (Peshitta) says.
Here it is:
Acts 20:28 - Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.
The problem solved. The Peshitto lost its credibility for me.
Thanks to God for the Peshitta.
The Western Peshitto there in that verse, and a few other places, I believe was made to conform to the prevailing Greek text in use in the West during the age that the Peshitto text was being constructed/revised. As you may know, there was a huge struggle over this issue during the 3rd-5th centuries in the Western Church, both among the Greeks and Latins...the Eastern Peshitta though, has the more ancient and independant tradition and text, which I believe is the one which goes back all the way to the Apostles.

It can be shown by a study of the other passages of the New Testament which speak of the Sacrifice of Christ's body and soul, that it was The Son of God, in His own person, who died on the Cross, not the Father's, who is all Spirit. Though I know of one man who will tell you that The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all died on the Cross that day. Without agreement with The New Testament mind you, and is absurd to even consider.

Christ comends His Spirit unto The Father, just before His death on the Cross, His Spirit being incapable of death, and there was a separation while He was dying in His humanity, when The Father departed from His Son, who had been in total unity, until that point when Jesus cried out "My God, My God, why have you departed from me?"

Yes, thank God for the Eastern Peshitta Holy Scriptures.

Blessings,
Chuck

Amen. I stand on Peshitta as my basis for about 10 years now and it never let me down.
During my reading I find more and more differences between Peshitta and Peshitto, although minor.
I do not have proof that Peshitto was corrected to match more to Greek NTs but what I see is
that changes to Greek NT were WILLFULL.
The changers were eager to make corrections to be unnoticeable between the true text and
their produce but we are here to expose them by checking how it is illogical and irrational based on
original language, context and whole body of the NT. So, us vs. them.

Do people not even consider the logical ramifications of a dead God to the universe? That the Creator of all is lying in a earthen grave for 3 days? If He is dead, then who raised Him? Is man able to kill God? What kind of God is this?

Shamasha Paul, I tried to reason with Mr. Bauscher about what he is teaching, but came to understand that when he believes God has revealed something to him, no one can convince him otherwise...He seems to see himself as a very special person in this world.

He gets around what you said there, by teaching that The Father and The Holy Spirit died (somehow) before Jesus died in his humanity...He thinks that when Jesus cried out on the Cross, "My God, My God, why have you departed from me." it was then that The Father had died...He also says that the whole Universe ceased to exist at that point, (not sure how that works since the earth was still intact) and that is the reason it became dark for 3 hours...then the New Heavens and New Earth came into being when the lights came back on...I think I got that straight. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Anyway, Dave, if you are here, you are welcome to correct me on what exactly you are teaching, as I may have it wrong, or it has changed since last we talked.

He has a new book called "The World Ended on a Friday", which I believe he goes into detail on his belief about this. I haven't read it yet, but think I might in the near future, to get his full teaching, so I don't mis-represent his positions.

Sadly, I can see some of his bias about this teaching, with his translation of some verses, and asked him about it once, with so far no response. He complained once that I had not taken the time to read his long message to me in privet chat here about this teaching...and then when I did so, responding to it, point by point, he seems to have ignored the response, or chose not to respond to it....oh well.

Its false teaching, pure and simple.

And this is why he chose not to go with the Eastern Peshitta readings in a few places, choosing rather to go with the Western Peshitto instead, which he finds in the 1905 UBS text, which he uses exclusivley, believing that it is a divinley inspiried copy of the Original New Testament. He, thinking that the Eastern Peshitta, is a corrupted text in those places, by false teachers...I say, he is mistaken in this, as the rest of the New Testament is in full agreement with what those verses teach, rather than the other way around.

On another note, I submitted my formal membership papers to Shamasha Allen at Mar Yosip Parish in San Jose, Ca. yesturday. And I have a few questions to ask you about the COE when you have some time.

Shlama,
Chuck.
Thanks for the reply Akhan Chuck. I must admit that I was unaware of Dave's position on this topic. Embarrassingly I don't know much about him or his beliefs after all these years. I feel left out and should have delved into it a bit further. Normally a person's beliefs are not something I inquire about, but I do consider him somewhat of a colleague and should have realized this.

That's great news about your decision. I'm always happy when someone feels at home in the CoE despite our shortcomings. It takes a certain type of special personality to deal with some of those. Please ask me anytime via pm or send me your contact info and I can call you.

If someone reads corrupted Greek New Testaments, unfortunately he can come even to worse
beliefs.
