When Paul founded Christianity in the city of Antioch, he was no longer a Jew. He had converted to his own system of beliefs. (Acts 11:26) Judaism is not a race that one cannot cease belonging to it. There is more than one way to lose one's Jewishness. One of them is to confess loyalty to another religion.

Clearly from the text, Paul put great value in the Torah and, as the Peshitta text says, Timothy's abiding in the age-old principles of Torah which he learned from his youth.

Then what scriptures is he referring to when he speaks of the Set-Apart writings that Timothy has known since childhood?
