Hi,

Who can tell me the Aramaic root words for paradise? I know it means 'park' or 'garden' but probably, there is/are (a) literal root word(s)?

ps: I'm writing an article in Dutch, about the Aramaic primacy, based on the Greek texts, that have Aramaic loanwords and transliterations

Thanks!

Hi Distazo,

The word for "Paradise" is ultimately Sanskrit/Persian in origin. In Semitic languages like Hebrew/Aramaic, the native word is "Gan/Gantha" for "garden", as in the garden of Eden.
