I recently found on Google books a free public domain electronic copy of James Murdock's translation, which has many more notes and features than the one at aramaicpeshitta.com. We have long assumed Murdock, like Etheridge, was a Greek primacist, However, listen to this from his second appendix:

"Peschtto Syriac...this is not only much older than the Philoxenian or the later Syriac version, but it is very generally admitted to be the oldest version to have come to us of the New Testament in any language."

An English translation of the Syriac Peshitto version of the New Testament. This is the only version of the New Testament written in an Aramaic dialect akin to the Aramaic spoken by Christ.
