Shlama,

I tried to dig through our library for a piece about Franz Delitzsch tonight, but I failed to find the information that I was looking for.

I was gonna post it here, oh well, maybe in the next couple of days.

I'm wondering, what is it about Franz Delitzsch' Hebrew Old & New Testament that makes it such a highly valued Bible even after 180 YEARS have passed since it was first published?

I have heard that a lot of native Israeli Believers would much rather have a copy of Franz Delitzsch' Hebrew Bible approx.180 year old Translation, than ANY other Modern Hebrew Edition of the Tanakh and the Brit Chadasha.

I thought that I remembered it being called "A Mishnaic kind of Hebrew" that Delitzsch rendered his Translation into, but I also remember Ewan saying that that was NOT correct. It WASN'T Mishnaic Hebrew that Delitzsch used.

So, my question is: What is it about Delitzsch' Translation that makes it's beautiful Hebraic rendering of the Bible, such a successful Translation even after so MANY years have passed since it's original publication?

By ALL accounts, it's still admired TODAY, as much as it was when it first went into print, so many years ago. And I personally find that AMAZING!

Thank you before hand for answering my question(s) here.
