Dear Yaaqub,

Have you ever seen this Bible?

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://tinyurl.com/24ygzq">http://tinyurl.com/24ygzq</a><!-- m -->

The English version is the NKJV, but the Hebrew New Testament is said to have been translated by the Messianic-Jewish Community in Israel (in 1985).

It's published by The Bible Society in Israel and Thomas Nelson, Inc.

Just wondering if anyone here has ever read the Hebrew part of the New Testament?

Thanks, Albion
Shlama,

I have seen this offered on a couple of different sites but I don't own one myself.

If the Hebrew translation is the same as that which was published in the early 1990's combined with a version of Biblia Hebraica, then I have read the Hebrew translation of the NC and use it sometimes in comparing translations and variants comparison work. It appears to actually have been translated from the Greek. It uses tons of Greek forms of names (personal and geographical) instead of sticking with a HebrewAramaic form of these. If you want examples or scanned pages let me know.

If it happens to be the same as the above then I wouldn't pay that much money for it. But that's just my opinion.
Shlama Albion,

Here are some scans of three particular Hebrew-English and the all Hebrew Tanakh/Brith Chadashah I have

Thanks Yaaqub,

I've got the blue leather covered New Covenant (on the bottom) too (which I got in a Christian bookstore in Dallas, Texas for about $18.00), plus the English-Hebrew New Covenant that I first asked you about.

I've got a small black leather covered English (KJV) and Hebrew New Testament.

Plus, I've got a Hebrew/English New Covenant by the famous Jewish translator, Franz Delitzsch.

ALL OF THEM are from the Greek, I THINK.

Shlama,

Yes, all of these are from Greek. The only one that I know of in Hebrew that is translated from the Aramaic text (but also includes the Western 5) is the Hebrew-Aramaic New Covenant available from aramaicbooks.com I love this edition but as I said in another thread somewhere, the Hebrew needs a bit of work, but it is very good overall and worth whatever it costs to get a copy if you don't already have one and desire and Hebrew edition.
Dear Yaaqub,

As much as I'm embarrassed to admit it, I can neither speak nor read Hebrew or Syriac (Assyrian).

I took some Hebrew lessons but that was a long time ago (probably 1999) and I've forgotten what I'd then learned.

I've also got 'The Little Red Book' (The Assyrian/Aramaic New Testament), but it's in Swadaya script, and I can't read it either.

I guess I bought these thinking that one day, I'd learn either Hebrew or Aramaic.

Who knows, I'm 56 now, there might still be time <!-- s:biggrin: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/biggrin.gif" alt=":biggrin:" title="Big Grin" /><!-- s:biggrin: --> .

I was told on good authority by someone who lived in Israel that the Messianic Jewish Community (there in Eratz Israel) had a hand in translating the Blue leather Hebrew/English Bible.

Could THAT be possible do you think?

Thanks for scanning those for me, your a good friend!

That's very possible. Also if I'm not mistaken, one of these was the same who helped with the Aramaic to Hebrew translation of the Aramaic-Hebrew Bi-Lingual NC. I believe he still lives in Israel.

You're more than welcome. If you didn't have the blue leather one I was going to ask if you wanted me to send you a copy. I have an extra hard cover edition sitting on one of my shelves. I always buy in doubles. Usually one copy of a book for scanning (taking it a part page by page) and one for reading or taking with me on trips.
Dear Yaaqub,

I got so involved with this Hebrew/English New Covenant idea that I ordered an audio tape version (now out of print) of the Hebrew New Testament:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1589680650/ref=nosim/websitesupport">http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... itesupport</a><!-- m -->

I used to believe that this was a way to find 'The Hebrew Roots' of the New Covenant until I understood that all that ALL of these translations are, is just a translation from the Greek.

Around that time, I found the P'shitta N.T. and I abandoned the idea that going through a Hebrew translation of a Greek translation, is not really gonna take us one step closer to the First Century New Covenant!

What a crazy circle! lol <!-- sConfusedatisfied: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/satisfied.gif" alt="Confusedatisfied:" title="Satisfied" /><!-- sConfusedatisfied: -->
